David Paul Gleeson

David Gleeson was born in Manchester and studied Visual art at Aberystwyth University and painting at Wolverhampton University.

He has had one man shows at the Grosvenor Gallery in 1998 and in Staffordshire at Shugborough Hall in 2006 and at Thompsons Gallery in 2007.

Sir Hugh Casson selected his work for The Discerning Eye exhibition in 2001.

He has won several prizes for his work, these include, the Huntingdon Art Prize and the Royal Academy small painting prize.

His work is of great quality, refined artistic taste and spare elegance.

"Each of my carefully wrought images – portraits, interiors, still life – is informed by considered draughtsmanship, close attention to detail, colour and texture. More than an accurate record of the visual world, they are imbued with an enduring quality, a stillness that transforms the everyday into moments of beauty and illumination. Each picture becomes it’s own small world, as the artist’s contemplative vision suggest a realm of untold stories."
