The ethos of the gallery is to select artists within a strict cannon; my own taste comes into play but I look for art that is not merely original in concept but powerful and inspirational.

I closely work with my key gallery artists and strive to promote and encourage undiscovered artists.

My first gallery position in the early seventies was for the Manchester art dealer Richard Proctor-Pearson. His gallery specialised in traditional art of the Victorian and post war periods.

Richard was a generous boss he gave me an enormous amount of responsibility in the running of the gallery and also a warning 'not to miss anything' when attending auctions. This rather vague instruction I took to heart often with profitable results which gave me the confidence to make independent artistic choices.

Selecting contemporary art requires that the dealer has the power to act independently from the current trends which soon look jaded and so last year. Great art has staying power.
