Carol McDermott is a lyrical painter, inspired by the beautiful wild county side of Cumbria. Whether she is painting an abstract or representational landscape there is a poetical almost pantheristic harmony to her compositions.
Like her fellow Cumbrian Landscape artist the late Winifred Nicholson she is a fine colourist. Her palette is a subtle one , she uses earth colours and fresh primary colours to perfectly describe the wild flowers and grasses in her paintings.
